The wedding budget calculator uses industry-standard allocation percentages to distribute your total budget across major wedding categories. The venue and catering typically take the largest share (50–55%), followed by photography, flowers, attire, and entertainment.
The per-guest cost helps you evaluate whether your budget and guest count are realistic together.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Not including tips and tax. Vendor prices usually exclude 18–22% gratuity and local sales tax. Add 25% to quoted prices for budgeting.
- Underestimating the guest list. More guests means more food, more seating, and a bigger venue. Each additional guest costs $100–300.
- Forgetting the little things. Invitations, favors, transportation, and alterations add up to 5–10% of the total budget.
Worked Example
Scenario: $30,000 budget for 100 guests.
Venue & Rentals (30%): $9,000.
Catering & Bar (25%): $7,500 → $75/guest.
Photo & Video (12%): $3,600.
Per-guest cost: $30,000 ÷ 100 = $300/guest.
